IGI Certification Explained
All our diamonds come with IGI certification. This document authenticates your stone's specifications — carat, color, clarity — and ensures you know exactly what you're buying.
What Is IGI?
The International Gemological Institute (IGI) is one of the world's leading independent gemological laboratories, established in 1975. IGI is the foremost authority for lab-grown diamond grading.
IGI operates independently — they have no commercial relationship with diamond sellers. Their grading is unbiased, consistent, and internationally recognized. When you receive an IGI certificate, you're getting an independent, expert assessment of your diamond's quality.
What Does an IGI Certificate Include?
IGI Graded
Every diamond 0.5ct and above ships with a full IGI grading report — independent, unbiased, and internationally recognized.
Complete 4C Report
Your certificate details Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat weight along with exact dimensions, fluorescence, and symmetry grades.
Laser Inscribed
Each diamond is laser-inscribed with its unique certificate number on the girdle — invisible to the naked eye, verifiable under magnification.
Origin Disclosure
The report clearly states 'Laboratory Grown' origin, ensuring full transparency in accordance with FTC guidelines.
Your Certificate Includes:
Carat weight (to the hundredth)
Color grade (D–Z scale)
Clarity grade (FL–I3 scale)
Cut grade (Excellent–Poor, if applicable)
Polish and symmetry grades
Fluorescence level
Exact dimensions (length × width × depth)
Unique serial number (laser-inscribed on the diamond)
IGI vs GIA: What Is the Difference?
Both are independent, internationally recognized gemological laboratories. GIA pioneered the 4Cs grading system and remains the benchmark for natural diamonds. IGI has become the leading authority specifically for lab-grown diamond grading — they grade more lab-grown stones than any other lab, their standards are the most established in the industry, and their reports are accepted by insurers worldwide. For lab-grown diamonds at Sula Bridal quality level, IGI certification is the industry standard.
How to Verify Your Certificate
Every IGI certificate includes a unique serial number. You can verify your diamond's authenticity and grading independently at any time.

Why Certification Matters
It protects you. A certificate ensures you know exactly what you're buying — carat, color, clarity, and cut — independently verified by experts with no commercial interest in the sale.
It ensures accurate specs. Without certification, you're relying on the seller's word alone. With IGI, you have an independent third party confirming every specification.
It's valuable for insurance. Insurance companies require certification to accurately value your ring. Your IGI certificate provides the documentation needed for coverage.
